The goals of this guide are to:

• Provide a convenient listing of books, journals, and other essential resources used in public health.
• Help users access these essential resources through the Calder Library.

This guide is intended for students and researchers at UM. It may also be helpful to anyone interested in public health, though some resources are limited to UM/JMH users per licensing agreements.

• PubMed
  Database produced by NLM (National Library of Medicine) containing bibliographic references, including abstracts of articles from thousands of bio medical journals.
• Embase
  EMBASE, from Elsevier Life Sciences Solutions, provides extensive coverage of international biomedical journals and conferences and is a key resource for generating systematic reviews, making informed decisions in evidence-based medicine, and for post-market surveillance of drugs and medical devices.
• CINAHL Plus
  Primary index to the international literature of nursing and health.  CINAHL Plus provides a wide scope of nursing and allied health journals as well as a high number of records, full-text, and cited references.  In addition, it provides full-text evidence-based care sheets, quick lessons and continuing education modules.
• Grey Literature Report
  Grey Literature acquisitions of the New York Academy of Medicine.
• PsycINFO
  Abstracts of scholarly journal articles, book chapters, books, and dissertations, in behavioral science and mental health. Citations and summaries date back to early 1800s; journal coverage from 1887 to present. From the American Psychological Association.

  Provides descriptions of tests, manuals, rating scales and other instruments used to assess health and behavior. The information can assist researchers and others in locating a variety of instruments used in the health fields, psychosocial sciences, organizational behavior, education, and library and information science. The service contains primary and secondary material, such as checklists, interview schedules, rating and other scales, coding schemes, and projective techniques.

  Longest running annual assessment of the nation`s health on a state-by-state basis.
• CDC Community Health Improvement Navigator
  An interactive web application that produces health profiles for all 3,143 counties in the United States.
• County Health Rankings & Roadmaps
  The County Health Rankings & Roadmaps program is a collaboration between the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation and the University of Wisconsin Population Health Institute designed to provide a reliable, sustainable source of local health data.
• Dartmouth Atlas of Health Care
  The project uses Medicare data to provide information and analysis about national, regional, and local markets, as well as hospitals and their affiliated physicians.
